The 3rd ATTRACTISS Train the Trainer (TTT) workshop took place from 18 to 20 May 2026 in Pisa, Italy, bringing together participants and trainers from across Europe for an intensive and highly interactive learning experience.
Organised in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment of the Università di Pisa, the workshop welcomed 20 participants to the University’s Contamination Lab, a unique space designed to foster collaboration, experimentation and cross-disciplinary exchange.
Over the course of the training, participants explored practical tools and approaches to support farmer‑led innovation, while sharing their own experiences from different countries and contexts. Advisors, facilitators, researchers and policy actors from Estonia, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Italy contributed to a rich, multi-actor learning environment.
The workshop also provided an opportunity to strengthen connections within the ATTRACTISS community, reinforcing networks that will continue to support participants in applying these approaches in their own countries.
A key element of the training was the strong involvement of practitioners and facilitators with direct experience in supporting innovation on the ground. Their guidance helped create a trust-based learning space, where participants could exchange openly, reflect on their practices and develop new skills.
Special thanks go to Alessio Cavicchi (Università di Pisa), Chiara Mignani (Università di Pisa) and Cosimo Righini (Cia Agricoltori Italiani Toscana), whose contributions were instrumental in making the training a unique and impactful experience.
The programme also included a field visit to Azienda Floriddia, an emblematic organic farm that integrates production, processing and direct connection with consumers. This visit provided insight into how interactive innovation takes place in practice, showcasing collaboration between farmers, researchers, managing authorities and local communities to build more sustainable and resilient food systems.
Overall, the Pisa TTT represents a strong example of learning in action, combining practical tools, peer exchange and real-world experiences to strengthen the capacities of those supporting innovation across European agricultural systems.
