An ATTRACTISS DIY Lab was held on the 28th of April 2026 in Budapest, bringing together a wide range of actors to promote cross‑sectoral learning and strengthen support for innovation in agriculture.
As part of the ATTRACTISS DIY Lab series, the event aimed to enable actors supporting agricultural innovation to learn from innovation‑support tools and solutions that have proven effective in other sectors, and to jointly reflect on their potential applicability within the agricultural context.
The event was organised by the Innovation and Digitalisation Support Unit of the Hungarian CAP Network (ITE), with the support of the Innovation Office operating within the Chamber of Agriculture of Schleswig‑Holstein (LKSH), highlighting the value of transnational cooperation and knowledge exchange.
Multiple perspectives on innovation support
The presentations explored different dimensions of innovation, focusing on innovation support systems and services, financing and programme‑based approaches, business development and experimentation models, as well as solutions that foster the practical uptake of knowledge and innovation.
Particular interest was shown in the presentation on the agricultural innovation support system of the German state of Schleswig‑Holstein, delivered by Carola Ketelhodt. This case offered a clear example of how innovation in agriculture can be supported in a predictable and long‑term manner, covering the full pathway from idea creation to practical uptake.
A shared space for the agricultural innovation ecosystem
One of the key strengths of this ATTRACTISS DIY Lab was its ability to bring together diverse actors of the agricultural innovation ecosystem in a shared space. Farmers, advisors, farmers’ organisations, civil society and interest groups, as well as representatives of public administration, all contributed to the discussions.
Cross‑sectoral knowledge exchange and the joint discussion of different perspectives are essential for shaping an enabling environment for innovation. This DIY Lab provided an open and collaborative setting for such dialogue, contributing to stronger connections and more effective approaches to supporting innovation in agriculture.
